What’s the most effective diet to lose weight? The one where you just act normally and it feels like no effort – and the weight drops right off! Why Does the Unconscious Crave Food in the First Place?
For over-eaters, it doesn’t. Not directly, at least. It wants something else, and food is a way to get there. Many overeat because they are overwhelmed. Easy to spot by how they carry their body (posture, tensions, voice, etc). The unconscious uses the meal as something like a time-out zone for their problems. And there might be a component where junk food gets converted to usable energy both quickly and cheaply in biological terms – a handy but unhealthy shortcut for a body already overwhelmed.

In other cases, people might associate food with something they want in their life. For example, in their deep processes, we might discover that Food = Love. This might be instilled in them in childhood by a loving parent. What happens as an adult if they still carry that program and their romantic relationships get uncomfortable? They may be fated for excess eating. Others, in their deep processes, might unknowingly hold that Food = Fun. Would it be surprising if their sins against diet happen mostly when out with friends? It can take some exploring to figure a person’s individual pattern. We can do that in session.

In fact, many report their craving completely gone, and they don’t even look at bad stuff anymore. It doesn’t even occur to them.
